Updates on Projects Awarded to B+H Architects

Al Juwaizah New Town Project is 80% Complete;
B+H Wins Contract for University City Development

Toronto, ON, Dec 21/2006/ -- B+H Architects, an architectural firm renowned for design, technical and project management excellence, has reached 80% completion of the design development of Al Juwaizah – a 3,400 residence, new town development in Sharjah, UAE. B+H was also just awarded the design and master planning contract for University City – a 1,000 residence development, valued at over 440 million Dhs, for faculty and staff of University City. Tactical Connections, the local agent and representative for B+H, has continued to be an intricate partner in the development of both projects, together valued at over three-quarters of a billion Dirhams.

Al Juwaizah New Town
Designed as a self-contained, gated community, this development project will have 3,400 residential units elegantly situated amongst walking parks and retail establishments. The entire town has been developed with privacy, convenience and charm while at the same time maintaining a sense of community and family.

B+H Architects were awarded the contract last year to master plan and design Al Juwaizah, and have now reached the 80% completion point in those designs.

Drawings have been submitted to the Ruler’s Office for approval, and the project is expected to go to tender in early 2007.

University City
B+H Architects were recently invited by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, to master plan and design new residences for faculty and staff at the prestigious Sharjah University City.

This development project is comprised of over 1,000 residential units (1 & 2 bedrooms) and dovetails with His Highness Sheikh Sultan’s expansion plans for University City.

University City, located east of downtown Sharjah along Dhaid Road, is home to the American University of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Higher Technical Colleges.

His Highness Sheikh Sultan wanted to expand University City to accommodate a new Teaching Hospital and the School for New Medical Studies. At the same time, new residences were needed for current and new faculty and staff. The new residences will be designed with a family-friendly focus, and will include parks and retail shopping.

B+H Architects were selected exclusively for this project because of the work done on the Al Juwaizah New Town development and other projects in Sharjah.

“We are very excited to be working with the Ruler’s Office on another magnificent development project in Sharjah,” said Tonu Altosaar, Senior Partner at B+H Architects. “The goal of our firm is to always deliver exceptional quality and cutting-edge designs, that also meet our client’s budgets. We look forward to a long and mutually-beneficial relationship.”

“This new project shows the extraordinary value Canadian firms bring to the region,” said Samer Kamal, Senior Partner at Tactical Connections. “By focusing on quality and service – with a deep appreciation for local customs and business processes – our clients continue to realize tremendous success.”

The UAE represents tremendous opportunities for Canadian businesses seeking international growth. The challenge these companies face is finding the right markets, opportunities and channels, and understanding the region’s complex business culture, in order to be successful.

The project is expected to go to tender in the first quarter of 2007.
